Bad Boy Magnum E Series

Bad Boy is often on the leading edge of technology when it comes to lawnmowers, and its most recent release of the Bad Boy Magnum E Series, is no different. This is Bad Boy’s first electric zero turn mower, and it does not disappoint.

Bad Boy managed to take the aspect it’s known for, including the strength and power of its commercial zero-turn mowers, and electrify it to reach a new audience of lawn mower buyers who are interested in the benefits an electric lawn mower can bring.

The all-new 2024 Bad Boy Magnum E Series comes with a 42-inch mowing deck. It features a 1/8-inch formed and solid steel deck. It's durable and built to last. The cutting width makes this a good overall mower for residential areas and smaller projects, but it's still powerful enough to get most jobs done quickly. Another nice feature is the desk support isolates, which help minimize any damage from impact.

The cut deck variability is 1.5 to 4.5 inches and is adjusted with a simple dial. It has a nice rubber shoot that’s long-lasting. Open up the interior to spot the completely different look of an electric powertrain. There’s no spindle belt system.

Instead, the blades are powered electronically. The wiring is braided and wrapped well to keep it neat and organized. The easy-to-clean design of the deck make the Magnum E Series better than any other electric mower on the market.

The Powertrain

You’ll notice a big difference once you turn on the mower. The first impression you’ll likely have is a much quieter operation level. Because of the lack of a combustion engine, it operates much quieter, which makes it easier to cut in the early mornings, or late evenings without annoying neighbors.

The next noticeable difference is the powertrain. If you’ve shied away from using an electric motor in a lawnmower before, perhaps because you didn’t think it could perform, this version is likely to provide a significantly different opinion.

The Magnum E Series is powered by Bad Boy’s 80 volt batteries. They offer better performance, long lasting runtime, and even improved torque.

This model can hold up to six batteries. The 80-volt, 8.0 AH batteries are interchangeable with any of your other Bad Boy equipment you own. That makes this a sensible solution for anyone looking to expand their line of electrical tools.

If the batteries are not charged individually, you have the convenient option to plug the entire mower into an outlet to charge all the batteries simultaneously. This method offers a quick and efficient way to recharge, and the necessary equipment is included with the mower.

The max speed of this electric zero-turn mower is 7 miles per hour. You can choose from three speed ranges (high, medium, and low). As for the feel and overall performance, it’s quick enough and enjoyable to operate.

One of the features that makes this electric zero-turn mower stand out is the patent-pending independent front suspension. This is the first Bad Boy mower to feature it, and you can certainly feel the difference. It creates a bit more cushion and makes those uneven surfaces easier to handle. This is a nice, upgraded feature that you don’t have on other smaller residential mowers.

Dimensions

The total width of the Magnum E Series electric zero-turn mower is 48 inches, with a 42-inch cutting deck. It’s about 48 inches tall and 65 inches long. It weighs 588 pounds. The rear tires are impressively sized at 20 inches by 10 inches.

They also have turf tread for better overall traction on some slippery surfaces. The front tires are 11 inches by 4 inches and have a smooth tread. When we tested it out, those small tires did a great job of moving across surfaces and handling any of the bumps in the grass, and with the suspension system on them, they really performed well overall.

Check Out the Features of the Magnum E Series

The powertrain and design are solid, but the Magnum E Series has some nice features that make it a worthwhile purchase as you upscale to electric tools in your garage.

To start with, let’s talk about the overall comfort level. It’s a small mower, but it still feels spacious when you’re sitting on it.

  • Simple control panel: There’s a simple-to-use control panel that gives you access to a wide range of features. Choose ground and cutting speeds and see your battery capacity here.
  • LED lights: LED front-mounted lights. They are easily toggled on and off when you need them and are pretty bright, too.
  • Storage: On your left, you have a cupholder and a small storage cubby for your phone. There’s an additional area of storage behind the tractor.
  • Charging: There’s a USB port which makes it possible to charge your phone while you’re getting the lawn taken care of in no time.
  • Arms: The arms on this mower don't feel like those on other residential mowers like this. In fact, they feel premium and easy to use.
  • Chair and support: You'll notice the overall comfortable seat, with its hardback and ventilation built into it. The armrests are solid. The seat is also well constructed and seems easy enough to keep clean.
  • Matts: There are rubber mats on the deck as well for easy cleanup and traction.

How Much Does the Magnum E Series Electric Zero-Turn Mower Cost?

For customers considering financing, prices may vary between dealers. However, you should be able to secure a monthly payment close to what is listed on Bad Boys' website. Specifically, for the Magnum E, financing options with approved credit start at approximately $109 per month. If you prefer to make an in-store cash purchase, the price begins at $5,899. Please note that all prices are subject to change.

Should You Purchase the First Electric Zero Turn Mower from Bad Boy?

There are a lot of reasons to consider the Magnum E Series when you are in the market for a residential or small property mower that offers power and performance. This mower definitely has some nice features that are not on other Bad Boy mowers, including things like the rear storage system and the independent front suspension. Also nice is that clear digital display. There are no belts to worry about changing out. The batteries are also well protected, so even if you do leave the mower out in a sudden summer rainstorm, it should be fine.

Tractor Bob recommends the all-new 2024 Bad Boy Magnum E Series for people mowing up to two acres. You will love how quiet it is every time you zip around the yard. If you decide to upgrade to this mower, it's also time to ditch your gas tools and upgrade to a battery-powered system. All of your Bad Boy batteries are interchangeable, which makes it easy to be ready for whatever comes your way.
