How to Stay Cool this Summer While Working with Your Tractor

Jun. 30 2022 Seasonal By Tractor Bob's

Just because it's hot out doesn't mean you have to suffer through the scorching summer heat. There are plenty of ways to stay cool while working on the farm with your tractor. We’ve listed a couple of our favorite tips below, but we’d love to hear some of yours, too! Just stop by Tractor Bob’s in Oklahoma City, OK, for a chat with one of our friendly staff.

Plan Accordingly

Working during the cooler hours of the day and taking breaks as needed are important for staying cool while farming. If it's possible to schedule your work so that you're not working in the direct sun during the hottest parts of the day, do so. And when you do have to be out in the heat, take frequent breaks in the shade or in a cool, air-conditioned space.

Know the Warning Signs of Heat Stroke

In severe cases, staying out in the sun too long can lead to more serious medical ailments, such as heat stroke. Heat stroke occurs when the body is no longer capable of regulating its own temperature. Symptoms of heat stroke include confusion, fainting, seizures, and unconsciousness. If you or someone you're working with begins to experience any of these symptoms, it's important to get out of the heat immediately and seek medical attention.

Keep yourself and your fellow workers safe by taking plenty of precautions on sunny, warm days. Your tractor may even need some heat-related help. If you notice your machine isn’t running properly, contact our service department at Tractor Bob’s to get things up and running again.
